Module 1 – The Basics of Great Portraiture – 6 week course starting on Wednesday the 6th of November from 12.00 – 15.00
You will learn about basic proportion and the structure of the face through a variety of drawing exercises. You will develop pencil skills to accurately capture features and experiment with a range of drawing materials and techniques to capture likeness within a portrait. Beginners will gain the confidence and satisfaction of being able to create portraits in true likeness of their chosen subjects and improvers will benefit from honing their portraiture abilities and further developing their own style.
Throughout the course artists will create a range of work that they can take away for their portfolio and will at times be able to work from photographs of their own chosen subjects. Paper and drawing materials will be provided but artists are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer.
Each session is 3 hours long with a break – tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided. Attendees can also bring their own food if they would like to eat while they learn.
Once booked on the course, Rebecca will call in the run-up to the first session to discuss your current experience level and to understand any particular aims you are hoping to achieve from the course.
